Major blog list hacked

I heard last night that the swedish site Bloggtoppen.se has been hampered, and hackers has been able to get hold of their user database complete with hashed passwords.

This means that if you used that site, and use the same password on other services as well then you need to alter your passwords immediately!

I don’t need to tell you what can happen otherwise, but for the sake of things here it is:

I signed on to a forum where some wiseguy stole my password, and used it to spread shit via my Gmail address. Google noticed the problems and forced me to change my password. There where no other alternatives than that. I got lucky though since he was only intrested in spamming my contacts, which means that the next time it won’t be that jolly good for me. So I altered my password, and I’ve been starting to alter all my passwords to different strong ones.

Need help with generating a new stronger password? There are several free services available that lets you do that.

StrongerPasswordgenerator.com is one such service that is free. It also teaches you how to remember the password through different words and phrases.

Generate-passwords.com is another one that gives you two passwords, one that you can speak, and one stronger which you cannot.

There are also ways to store your passwords on your computer and even online, but I strongly advice you who uses an online storage system that you change that password to something you never use. I however have no experience in such systems.

Anyways that was all for me for now. Stay safe out there!
